Weekend Getaway

Has anyone ever been to Charleston, SC????

Paul and I randomly chose Charleston as a weekend getaway in September. Neither one of us had ever been to SC and we really didn't know anything about Charleston at all. Let me tell you, Charleston did NOT disappoint us! It was so nice, clean, friendly, great weather, awesome food, good shopping district, we could walk everywhere downtown and so on.

It is on our "Go Back" list for sure. Next time we just want to stay a little longer and maybe rent a car one day and drive to Savannah.

Our weekend didn't get started great due to some airline issues (no fault of ours) but we did end up staying at the airport most of the day. Rather than getting to Charleston at 10:30 Friday morning, we arrived at 7:30 that night! That is so our luck and this is not the first time this has happened to us! So here we are starting our vacay at 6 am at the bar!!!

This is the main reason we chose Charleston. My secret boyfriend would be there!

It was so much fun!

However it was not so fun when the fire alarm started going off at 4:45 am the next morning! I wasn't too concerned with the whole alarm thing (thinking it was some kids that pulled it) but when they started announcing on the PA that there was a fire in the building then it freaked me out. Can you believe I had to literally shake Paul to wake him. He never heard the whole alarm. I had already gotten dressed shoes in all before he was even awake.

Don't worry I looked out in the hall and there was no smoke so I did gather my belongings.
It was really funny to see all the women in their PJ's but all the men had on the clothes they obviously wore the night before and there was alot of bedhead hair going on!!!

I know this is dark, but I had to capture the moment! Paul was so irritated. He said "Are you kidding me, I go on vacation to get away from work and I get woken up and evacuated from my bed to see a bunch of firemen stand around!" Ha ha, I guess he is used to seeing them stand around at home but then he is at least getting paid for it.
Headed back to bed! In case you were wondering, they was only a "smell of gas" in the basement and we had to stand outside for 45 minutes to get cleared to enter the building. I kid you not it took the firemen 25 minutes to get there.


I know I was slacking on alot of picture moments while we were there like the sweet carriage ride and the shopping district. Maybe next time I will capture more.

If you haven't been to Charleston, I suggest you go! And if you have kiddos, I suggest a "Mommy-Daddy" getaway at least once a year!
