Beach Trip 2009

Each year Momma Dot rents a condo in Destin for a month, family and friends each take a week to keep her company. Our family usually goes down the first week of Oct. If you haven't gone to Destin in early October than you are totally missing out, no waits at restaurants, no traffic, perfect beach weather and I could go on and on. Last year as we were laying out on the beach (yes, 8 months pregnant) all we could talk about was Brentley Rae coming to the beach for the first time.

Well how did it go you ask????

She was NOT a fan of the beach.

Momma Dot and Brentley Rae

Me, Momma Dot, Steve (my brother)

Paul came home from the fire station about 1:15 on Sunday morning (my birthday). I slept from 10 pm to 1 am then we finally got on the road at 2:30 am. I was really nervous about her riding all the way down there awake so we choose this crazy time to leave. However, it wasn't too bad, it was nice to get there at 11 am.

Mom and Mark had to get Brentley her first air brushed beach shirt!

"I like to look at the beach from here just don't put me in it!"

You know how Brentley's hair drives me crazy cause it just won't cooperate with me.

Well every time she would be left alone with Ah D and Granddaddy Mark I would find her like this. Mark would spike it up with moose multiple times throughout the day!

They thought this was soooo funny, but do you know how long it takes me to make her hair lay down without help from Granddaddy Mark!

Paul and I actually had a "Date Night" while we were gone.
We went on a sunset dolphin cruise then ate a Harbor Walk

Yes, we actually saw LOTS of dolphins

Pretty Sunset

This was day one of attempting the beach. She stayed down there all of maybe 10 minutes.
Granddaddy Mark and Ah D showing Brentley the water.
Day two was a little better. I'm glad I brought my camera because these were the only two times she hit the beach.
"Why is this stuff sticking to me?"
I'm not big on posting bathing suit shots but it's a first beach picture and probably the last that this blog will ever see.

Dad trying to help her like the sand
How can someone not like the beach when it looks as perfect as this?!!!!
Eating at Backporch
Such a big girl
This face cracks me up! This is so a Paul looking face.
I'm not sure where we were (I think AJ's) but I thought this was sweet
Family shot at Bay Town Wharf (this was shortly before she threw up all over all three of us!)
"Momma Dot bought me this beach chair so I thought I would sit in the condo with her all week"
Just playing
Me and my brother, Steve
We were all supposed to take pictures at a certain time but the guys didn't come back from the dock until dark so that explains why it is dark.

Us posing a fake walk on the beach

This was the ONLY time Brentley smiled while in the sand
Game night! Paul actually allowed me on his team and WE WON!
Paul and I stayed until the next Monday morning and left about 7 am. Brentley did awesome on the way back too! Even though going on vacation with an infant is somewhat stressful and we couldn't have done it without my parents help, we were so grateful to spend a wonderful week with family and most of all Momma Dot. Thanks, MD for a wonderful week.
